Present Use
This building is known as "Studley Castle" and after the demise of Rover, who owned it, was sold to a hotel chain.
Birthplace
My grandparents and their family lived here for many years and I was born in the front bedroom in the middle of the photograph in November 1947. My stay in a castle did not last long, as a few days after my birth we moved to a prefab and lived there until 1960.
Fred Gazey
I wonder if any older people remember my gt uncle, Fred Gazey. He used to live at Keeper's Cottage at the top of Primrose Hill. He was killed in the late 1960's when an unknown well in the house collapsed and he drowned. I spent many happy hours up at the small holding in 1950's and 60's and adored my uncle. His wife, Ethel, died in 1951 and as they had married late in life had no children of their own. He only ever left Oversley to ride his bike to Stratford Market or on Christmas Eve. Then he rode his bike to Redditch to visit his two sisters, Nell and Jinny, and his brother Joe. He stayed all Christmas Day and we used to have a big family party laid on by the gt aunts on Christmas night. Next day Fred was up at 5.00am to ride home to his sheep, chickens, geese and turkeys. MY MOTHER LIVED IN A TIED COTTAGE CALLED MOCKLEY MANOR COTTAGE (WHICH SOUNDED GLAMOROUS BUT WAS'NT) FOR A COUPLE CALLED MR AND MRS CREEDY-SMITH I BELIEVE, ANYWAY I USED TO TRY TO GET OUT AND ABOUT AS MUCH AS I COULD AND GO CYCLING ROUND ULLENHALL.
IT WAS HERE THAT I CAME ACROSS MISS PUGH, A LOVELY LADY WHO LIVED WITH HER BROTHER AT THE BOTTOM ON CHURCH LANE AND SHE WAS FOREVER CYCLING AROUND THE VILLAGE LOOKING WONDERFULLY FIT AND HEALTHY.

Getting Older
How times change, reading the memories of Ullenhall relating to Mockley Manor. My mother Mrs Cook was a resident at Mockley Manor which became a nursing home. She was there from 1997 until her death in 2008 at the age of 102. We often wondered what it used to be like when it was a private home.
Mappleborough Green 1841 Census
I am trying to find out geneaology things in my family - Boswells - dating back to the early 1800's and at the time of the 1841 census were living in Mappleborough Green, Studley, with a John Morris. Would there be any information on this from your area, would you know the church etc for instance. Any help would be appreciated.
