Portmanmoor Road Memories .

A Memory of Splott.

My nan used to own the florists at 28 Portmanmoor Rd - Mrs. Cox . Next door Mrs.White had a shoe shop . Her son was Tony White . Further on down Portmanmoor Rd was Canns - a hardware shop . Opposite was Edna Stones fruit and veg. shop . Further on down that block was a bread shop and chemist . The Lord Wimbourne pub was next to the Post Office on the corner of Wimborne St. Opposite that was Winnie Gregors Chip shop - no croc there !!! . The World famous Bomb and Dagger was opposite the chip shop . This is where Shirley Bassey did some of her earliest singing . Happy days even though they were pulling the place down . Remember the wall they built at the back of Bridgend St. by The Arches underneath the railway line ? . We lived in 27 Aberdovey St. before moving to Splott Rd. . Mark Roan .

Well you didn t live too far from me. I lived in 19 portmanmoor road which was next door to the labour club till 1967. Those were the good days with nothing but fun and laughter.I remember all the shops and this will stay with me forever.
I stayed in Llanneli street. Splott in 1972. Then returned to London. Met some very friendly nice people while there. Did/does anyone remember or know Stazil Cameron ? Thanks
