Michells Boutique
My first job as a 15year old was a sales assistant in a newly opened boutique just off Market Place. The shop was 'Michelles' and it had one foot in the fashion world where corsets abounded and the other in the exciting mini skirted fashion trend. There were two side windows that were often 'dressed' to appeal to holidaymakers walking up from the boat moorings. Roger and Pauline Wilkinson were the owners and the shop was opposite the Electricity Board Showrooms. I used to bike from Little Paxton to get to work, across the common. I would love to know what happened to the Wilkinsons as I lost touch when I moved from the area I do know that they had a son not too many years after I left in 1968 I believe. Happy days!

RE: RE: Michelle's Boutique
Hello Marilyn, I remember the clothes shop on the corner of Market Place. I worked with Pauline at Wyboston before they opened the shop and unfortunately she died very young. I was upset. Are you any relation to Pete Messenger of Eaton Socon whose wife was Elizabeth? She worked with me for years. She, unfortunately, also died in the 1990s. That also was a shock. I have just been directed to this site by a young friend via Facebook. Name: Rita Gacon (was Rutt), only one in the U.K. Pauline had/has a younger sister who I used to see quite often, but for the last 2 decades I have been unwell and living a very quiet life. Come back? We owned the Carousel Restaurant a few doors down and also the cafes in front of the Mall and in the Mall. Shares in three other business until 1969. I retired from the Carousel in 1983.

RE: RE: Michells Boutique
Hello Rita Nearly all my relations lived in St Neots, my nan and grandad shepherd lived in Ferreres Aveenue, Eynesbury, myself and my sister Carole spent all our holidays there. My aunty Ursula Jackson, nee Shepherd, also lived in Eynesbury with her husband Gordon and children Karen and David. Aunt Ursula died in 1987 aged 48, very tragic for all of us. Carole and I used to play with Bobby Ball and her brother Robin, also Margaret Jacobs, John Barry and Rosie chamberlain. I remember the High Street very well and I think I remember the boutique. I still visit my cousin Karen in Peterborough and my uncle in Southoe. I live in Kent.
