Lincolnshire memories

John And Elizabeth Foottit

I visited Carlton Scroop with my grandmother, Elizaberth Foottit. Her sister was Rose Helena West, they were all born in Hough on the Hill. Harrold Footit, whose memorial is in the church, was my great cousin. Elizabeth was born in 1875, John in 1873. The West and Footit families all came from Hough. I have photos of Elizabeth and John in 1900.

My Grandad

My grandad's family came from here, his name was Clarence Magson Hilton, he was born around 1900. I am trying to find anyone related, he married Elizabeth Howard and lived in Hull.

Brandon, Lincolnshire

If anyone has any memories of Brandon, please post them here, or contact me on 07941-832298 if you have any old photos of Brandon (you can't post them on to this website). Thanks.

Snowman

It was either 1990 or 1991. The snow was deep and it was not worth the risk of travelling to college. Or was I skiving? So I spent the day building a snowman with some friends up on the grass over looking the Social Club. The next day we were bored and there was even more snow. So we decided to build the snowman even bigger. It was that big we had to put foot holes in the body so we could climb up it to build the head. Somone phoned the local paper to say it must be the biggest SNOWMAN in Lincolnshire. The following week a photo and write up was put in the paper to say just that. After all the snow melted, there was our snowman still standing and watching over the Social Club.

My husband, Mike Kirton, lived in the second house on the right as a small boy with his parents and younger brother. A number of his family also lived on this stretch of the Parade. I moved to Sleaford in 1963, but lived further up the Parade at No 90. Even then it looked the same.
