Changes
I would like to thank those who have responded to this and I have equally replied. Sutton has fond memories. The girl I married is still my partner and we often speak fondly of Sutton and what it used to be like. We are very interested in hearing the stories of what it is like now. Is the tree still outside what used to be called 'Trueforms shoe shop'? Do they still have the little market in West Street? Can you drive up the High Street any more? If not, where do you go? Is the old cinema still there towards Carshalton? So much we would like to know.

RE: RE: Changes
Hi, I dont know if anyone else has answered your questions but here I go. The tree got blown down in 1986. the market is no longer there infact the road has gone and in its place a shopping mall (St. Nicholas Centre) has been built. You cannot dive up the high street now its mostly pedestrianised (if thats a word) you have to go round a one way system at the back of the shops up Throwley Way. Carshalton Road is no longer a through road past the Police Station you have to go round the one way system. The Granada was demolished in the late 1970's to make way for offices and we also have a very large Police station now which I think is classed as the largest in the country (don't quote me on that) the old one is still there next to it. I hope this helps you to visualise what it is like now. Can I ask you a question, do you remember a dance hall/disco called Marsotis (I think thats how you spell is) in Carshalton Road it used to be on the corner of Cambridge Road above some shops? They have now built a BP garage there now.
