James Ferris Cooke And Family

Does anyone out there have any information about James Ferris Cooke. He was a horse clipper and I believe worked on a local estate. His wife was Jane Palmer from Preston Bagot and they had a grand daughter Edith who was a teacher in Hockley Heath. I understand they lived in Spring Coppice Lane.

James and Jane were my Gt Gt Grandparents.

West Midlands memories

Miss Pugh

MY MOTHER LIVED IN A TIED COTTAGE CALLED MOCKLEY MANOR COTTAGE (WHICH SOUNDED GLAMOROUS BUT WAS'NT) FOR A COUPLE CALLED MR AND MRS CREEDY-SMITH I BELIEVE, ANYWAY I USED TO TRY TO GET OUT AND ABOUT AS MUCH AS I COULD AND GO CYCLING ROUND ULLENHALL.
IT WAS HERE THAT I CAME ACROSS MISS PUGH, A LOVELY LADY WHO LIVED WITH HER BROTHER AT THE BOTTOM ON CHURCH LANE AND SHE WAS FOREVER CYCLING AROUND THE VILLAGE LOOKING WONDERFULLY FIT AND HEALTHY.

Getting Older

How times change, reading the memories of Ullenhall relating to Mockley Manor. My mother Mrs Cook was a resident at Mockley Manor which became a nursing home. She was there from 1997 until her death in 2008 at the age of 102. We often wondered what it used to be like when it was a private home.

Mappleborough Green 1841 Census

I am trying to find out geneaology things in my family - Boswells - dating back to the early 1800's and at the time of the 1841 census were living in Mappleborough Green, Studley, with a John Morris. Would there be any information on this from your area, would you know the church etc for instance. Any help would be appreciated.

Pram Race

I was 10 years old when I entered the pram race. Myself and two other neighbours entered as a junior team. I was dressed up as a baby and the two other lads were dressed as mom and dad. The race went round Wooton Wawen. It started at the top of the High Street in Henley, down to the traffic lights which we had to turn right, then left up Mayswood Road. At the end of Mayswood Road we turned left on to the Stratford Road back into Henley and up the high street. We had to take it in turns to be in the pram which was difficult to get in and out of when running. The crowds up the High Street pelted us with flour and water bombs. We came second in our group. Unfortunately I have no photos of this event - does anybody have any?

Evelyn Pratt

My mother was born at 13 High Street on 8 Feb 1909, just over a hundred years ago.
