Thorrington as A Boy
I spent many happy years as a boy living at 2 Fratting Road, Thorrington, enjoying country life, lots of friends and lovely people who resided there. I did attend school at Brightlingsea Secondary Modern School. I have returned on many occasions to see old school friends.

Hi Chris, A Happy New Year to you and yours, how are you keeping? A lovely surprise to hear from you, I was only reminiscing the other week when I mentioned your name and brother Jim. Had a great working life Chris, since returnig to Dagenham from Brightlingsea I took up an apprenticeship with GEC mechanical handling. Commenced work at Heathrow airport Terminal 1, at this stage it was only basic structural steelwork and flooring. I was totally involved with baggage sortation systems. On completing apprenticeship I was requested to take up resident engineer position taking all responsebility for whole project. This contract saw me doing complete refurbishments of Terminals 1-2-3-4. Had a around 150 engineers with me at all times. I spent 14 years in the Middle East, ie Kuwait, Dubia, Saudi, Iran, once again installation of airport baggage systems. Returned to Heathrow, completing my 44 years service, retiring in September 2066 having had a wonderful career amongst great people. Living in Dartford, Kent with my wife Linda, daughter Laura 21 and son Christian, 19. Now doing things that work got in the way of, travelling being high on the priority list at least three times a year. Would love to hear from you and catch up on old colleagues. All the best, regards to all Charlie Stelfox
