My grandfather was born at Horncliffe Lodge, Tottington Higher End on Nov 15 1882. His name was Arthur Owens. His mother was Mary Platt whose family I believe were a  prominent family in the village. His father was Richard Owens.  Arthur, a cabinet maker, left England around 1910 and settled in Australia.

RE: RE: Platt Family

I lived in the house on the left [very left edge of the photograph] from 1984 until Christmas 1986. The left half of the semi was bigger than the right. The builder lived in the left half - where I lived - and sold the other half to finance the building. I found a number of invoices etc. relating to the construction of the property in the loft space, dating around the end of the 19th century when it was built. JM

RE: RE: Platt Family

I am looking for relatives of Ruth Laural Platt born 1929 in Sydney, Australia, died 1959. Her married name was Ruth L Mcdougall. I am one of her children who was adopted out to family members. I know she had 2 brothers and 1 step sister at the time, her mother was married to a man who was involved in the Masons Order. When she died she was living at housing settlement at Riverwood. My father's name was Duncan Thomas Mcdougall. My name was Dianne Mcdougall, born 1958. Can anyone shed any light on my relatives?
