More about this scene

The town clock has been given a number of nicknames, including `the Iron Duke of Tredegar`, because of the small profile of the Duke of Wellington on the base. `The Great Iron Clock of Tredegar` has been described as `a misshapen lighthouse` and `an outsized dumbbell`, amongst other terms of endearment. As we look down Castle Street, we can see the NCB Club on the right. There used to be a Braces` Bakery near to the Glyn Café. The area had a large number of public houses: on the corner was the Cambrian Public, on the right-hand side was the Kings Head, on the left was the Golden Lion, and the Black Prince was just around the corner.

Street still looks much the same today. Photo is from early 60's though. Ford Anglia (centre left) didn't come out 'til Sept 59. 63 - 65 I'd say. "Charlie Hills" bus in the Circle is also 60's as is, I believe, The "Red and White" Bus pulling out of the Circle
