Mayes Family

Ruth Mayes was born 1850, became a singe parent in 1868, married John Manning in 1896, and died in 1937 - the longest-lived of her family I think. Henry her son also died in 1937. Ruth had 9 brothers and sisters - John born 1853, Lucy 1835, Charles 1836, Sarah 1840, Samuel 1842, Benjamin 1844, Ann 1846, Mary 1849, Crispus 1853 (moved to Yorkshire). Their parents were John and Maria, both buried in Troston churchyard. John's father and grandfather were also called John Mayes.

RE: RE: Mayes Family

Hello, I am not sure if we are related in any way. I have been searching my family and have found a James Mayes who was born in 1850, but my search mentioned a place called Eye, in Suffolk. Would you be able to tell me if there is any connection? James married Ann Eliza Hailes, also noted as having been born in Eye in 1861. I think, if I have got this right, they were related to my paternal grandmother Ada Yarker of Idle Bradford. I am struggling to find connections during and earlier than this date, so I cannot be certain of any information I have, but I will keep searching. If you, or anyone else has any information that can fill in the gaps I have, and can be passed on, it would be most appreciated.
