Tyn Y Morfa, The Warren c.1950

In the early 60s we used to travel to Talacre for a fortnight holiday in a caravan. One year my parents didn't pre-book but we travelled from Liverpool on the off chance we would find a place. First stayed there in 1951. My dad rented the chalet opposite the green corrugated Chapel aside of the sandy path which lead to the beach. lived in no 5 mitford bungalow in the late fifties no running water, tap in the middle of the green went to ffynanngroew school remember when albert constantine was run over by the shop ran in front of the bus even now all these years later i still think of him when overtaking school buses , fishing in the stream for tiddlers near the old convent.friendly with alan a nd david frith wendy hughes gordon ...see more

Talking last night of childhood holidays, my thoughts always go back to Tyn Y Morfa. Travelled by train from Chester General to Talacre station in the late 40's and it seemed a long way away, later in my youth cycled there from the Wirral. Thought I'd google and there it is, a wonderful copy of a postcard. Can you make out a tiny white caravan about middle then left and again left of the parked car, that's where we stayed ...see more
