More about this scene

The Cross and the Carew Arms 1929 Further south, Crowcombe is the largest village on the western flanks of the Quantocks, and once was a small market town. In the park to its north is Crowcombe Court, a Georgian country house built in the 1720s and 1730s for Thomas Carew. It is in brick, rather than stone, but cannot easily be seen from the village. Near the entrance to the main drive is this fine medieval market cross; beyond is the 18th- century Carew Arms, now with its render removed.
