School In Bradford On Tone
A Memory of Bradford-on-Tone.
I lived in Bradford in the bungalow my dad designed at the corners. We emigrated to Canada in 1958 - I was 7. My dad came over here first to get work as an architect and a home for us. My mum, older brother, younger sister and I stayed in a caravan behind the pub for 6 weeks. Then we followed dad to Canada on a ship, The Empress of France in June 1958. I had started school in Bradford in the small room with Miss Two (?), I liked Miss Two very much. She started my lifelong love of reading. Not sure when, but later I moved to the bigger room and Mrs Richards, who scared me a bit. We walked down Back Lane to school. I remember Janet Berry as a friend and going to her big house on the bend. Also remember Diane Crocumbe and her sister who lived nearby.
