Family History Dated 1781 Kings Somborne.

Please could any one in Kings Somborne let me know who to contact regarding my family history. I have a family tree that dates back to 1781. My decendents were from Kings Somborne. I have names from that time and would very much like to find out more.i.e. if my ancestors are buried in your village. If they are that would be very exciting for me and the rest of my family, who are spread out in the U.K. and across the world. I live in Maidstone in Kent and pass nearby to Andover frequently, when travelling to Devon to visit my daughters. I would love to visit if I thought I could find out more. If anyone could help, I would very much appreciate it.
P.S. My family name was INGS.
Thankyou,
Sue Shirley.

My mother Mary Henley worked here, and later in 1957 we stayed here after moving back from Canada, I was 4. Mrs Bullock was the proprietor. I wonder where her son and daughter are today.

Mrs Bullock was a lovely lady, she was very kind, my mother loved her. Does anyone remember my mother? She has passed now, we had very fond memories, my grand mother and grandfather lived here, if anyone can fill in some information I would love that, thank you in advance, Bonnie.

Lockerley Times Were Lovely!

I lived in Holbury View and had Mr Oakley on my right with his little shop and his brother and his wife running a taxi business on my left. The Johnsons lived further down. My friend lived on the Green where his Dad had a petrol station and car repair business. My friend Martha Jane Everett lived opposite - the first girl I fell in love with!
I loved my time in Lockerley and was sad to leave when my father was moved to Singapore.
My name is John Scott and my email is lockerley@hotmail.com

Gordon Roberts

Hi I am looking for my grandfather Gordon Roberts. All I know is that he lived in Kings Somborne and was a lay preacher. Please can anyone help me?

Trying to Find Information On...

I am researching my family tree and have found that my family lived in or around this area. I am keen for any information regarding Maggie May Hill (maiden name Shearing). She was married to Edwin Arthur Hill in 1920 at South Stoneham. I believe they had three children called Edwin or Ted, Mary and Arthur William Frank Hill ... Arthur was born in Bursledon in 1923. Any help would be great.

Convalescence During The War at Marsh Court

I have mainly unhappy memories of Marsh Court. During the Second World War it was used as a convalescent home for children and in 1944 I was sent there after being knocked down by a car in Tettenhall where I was housed as an evacuee from London. I was also suffering war trauma and I was just four. I remember a long tree-lined drive leading up to a big house with a wooden door and,on the right as you entered, a room with a big dolls house. To distract me I was invited to play with it so as not to notice my parents leaving. It had a moving figure of a little old lady inside and when you rang the door bell she passed by the window. I soon realised my parents had gone and I ran to the door, reached up for the handle, opened it and ran after them as they were walking up the drive. It was as painful for them as... Read more
