More about this scene

Frogmore Street begins near the bank on the right, site of the medieval north gate. The pedestrians walking towards the camera are heading for the High Street and, no doubt, the market. E H Hodges, the hairdresser and tobacconist, advertise their wares on their wall and they also sold leather goods and gifts. On the left, another hair stylist is sandwiched between George Oliver's footwear shop and Johnson's dyers and cleaner's.

My parents Monica and Jack Garrett ran the Frogmore Cafe from 1954 until 1978 when it became a dry cleaners when  they then sold it to Sketchleys in 1980. I was their only son Richard.
