Can Still Name Almost All The Shops

A Memory of Aldershot.

Can remember most of the shops in this part of the street. My father worked in the shop beyond the Wimpy Bar - Lascelles fishmongers. Fred the butchers, Lanes ice-cream, the Hot Oven, Hall & Warner, the herbalist, Keens newsagents, the Camera shop, the entrance to the Market what memories this brings back!

My little brother and I used to trudge through Manor Park, over the station steps and up Victoria Road to reach St Josephs Church each Sunday morning, so I also remember all those shops which were usually closed on Sundays (except for Lanes). Even the market entrance was gated - all life used to stop on Sundays and Wednesday afternoons.
