A two bedroom flat on the third floor, 46, Durham Buildings, became home to me, my two siblings and parents for about 9 months from 1961 to 1962. The flat had no bathroom but a small outside balcony which housed the toilet that had no window and no electricity for lighting. I remember visiting Aunty Lily at 5 Henning Street. There was also an Aunty Min (Minnie ?). Would have been early 1960's. Cannot remember a surname a or what relation they were. Think Lily may have been Min's daughter. Any ideas welcome.
I was born in Longhedge Street in 1955, my dad was Ernest Burton, we lived there with my nan Mary Burton and my mum who was also Mary. Does anyone remember them?
We used to live in Henning Street in Battersea, we were always in Battersea Park and "the jungle" which was a playpark for teenagers with ropes and pulleys, my brothers had great fun in there whilst my friends and I were always in the funfair. I loved the fountains when they went high into the air and if it was windy would get sprayed! Often used to bunk into the Granada by the side door - very naughty! ...see more
