Can anyone tell me where Greenhill Cottages were located in Church Street in Bedwas? My grandfather died there in 1945 but I have been unable to trace where they once stood.
I am trying to find out about my family history and my fathers family were from Bedwas, they worked in the mines and for the GWR..My father Stanley was born in 1907. His parents were Charlotte and James Morris. He had many brothers, Charles , henry,Reginald, clement,Albert and James, and one sister Dorothy. She married a Roland Tyler. My grandparents and my mother come from Llanbradach Plasturtwyn Terr; I spent every school holiday and Christmas there. I remember my nan sending me to Snook's shop for a couple slices of ham and putting it on the book to pay Friday. Also, going to see Mr Crow the blacksmith in the old school putting new shoes on the pit ponies. I remember the ponies coming up from the pit for two weeks every summer. Going up the ...see more
Hi Does anyone remember a Thomas John Jones? His father was called William and lived at 7 Greenfield Cottages, Church Street, Bedwas. I only know that they lived at this address in 1935. Thomas would have been in his twenties. They were both coal hewers. Any info would be greatly received as Thomas was my grandad but I have no history of him and am researching my family tree. Thank you
Does anyone remember Charles Cross who spent his last years living with his nephew William Jones in Greenhill Cottages, Church Street, Bedwas(?) He died there in 1945 at the age of 79. He was my grandfather and I never met him or knew what he looked like; nor do I know where he was buried. Found some photos of the Novellettes jazz band through the jazz band facebook page that Dave Paget's daughter set up - brilliant some fab memories.
Dear Tina, Re Bridge Cottage/House We re-named Bridge House when we bought it in 1977 to save it, as it was one of the few and oldest Welsh long houses in the area. It was boarded up vandalised and was about to be demolished to make a larger car park for the Bridge End Inn. We re-named it Bridge Cottage as the original Bridge Cottage that stood on the opposite side of the road had been demolished as part of the road ...see more
Hi, Does anyone have any photos or memories of the Bridge House/Cottage in Bedwas that was an Indian restaurant for some time. We now own it and want to try and bring it back to the very early years. Many thanks if you do.
