More about this scene

South-west of Oxted, and on the course of a Roman Road across the Weald, the route turns left at Blindley Heath, a hamlet on former heathland in the south of Godstone parish. Most of the houses are 19th-century, including the shop (dated 1881) on the corner of Ray Lane beyond the now relocated war memorial cross. It is now a private house called The Old Post Office. The building behind the Ediswan Lamps sign has gone - a Texaco garage now stands on the site.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I can remember walking from the village school to Gibbs stores with my mother so that she could place her weekly grocery order and pay for the last week's delivery. She did this on a Monday and the goods were delivered on a Friday.
