More about this scene

St Matthew's Church was built on a hillock a few hundred yards inland from Borth. When it was consecrated by the Bishop of St David's in 1876, music was provided by the pupils of Upping School, Rutland, 300 of whom stayed in Borth for nine months to escape a fever prevalent in the school and from which some of their fellows had died. Their offer to build a road to the church was declined.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

This church was over the railway which ran along the back of Borth. The track that leads to it was at the end of the platform on the street side. The church is on a small hill which on the other side was a WW2 lookout. There was a wedding there one summer - we would go blackberry picking in the nearby lane.
