More about this scene

The Big Stone is a glacial erratic left on the moorland near Boston Spa. The steps carved into its side to gain easy access to the summit, seen here on the left, were made by Victorian antiquaries. The family on top in this photograph seem to be enjoying the view.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I was at St Josephs from 1952 until 1959, my name was Kathleen Mccoy i had 2 sisters with me Pauline Battles and Sheelagh Mccoy. I remember some names ,Theresa Thompson, Dorothy Wray , Roselyn Gallagher, Kathleen and Margaret Riley, to name a few. I was one of the youngest at that time in the home. It would be nice to know if anyone else was there with us.
Whilst my brother lived just down the road in St. Mary's boys home, Boston Spa.myself & 2 sisters lived in St. Joseph's catholic girls home. This was in the late 60's. I first went to the primary school in Clifford, St. Edwards I think. The headmaster was a Mr Haynes. Then I attended the John Fisher school in Harrogate. Does anyone know if St. Joseph's children's home in Boston Spa still exists? Glenda My surname was Hughes.
Hi Thomas Ramshaw Dalby was my great great grandfather. I have an image of Dalby's Hotel, which was later the Royalty, and is now a corner shop supermarket on the High Street. There are memorials in Boston Spa churchyard to Thomas and his decendants.

A new primary school was built sometime in the mid 70's and we then went to this more modern one ...see more
