Bradford House
My daughters and I lived happily at Bradford House for seven years in the late 1990's ... The house was originally two 17th century cottages at right angles to each other. The Victorians then re-modelled one of the cottages, adding bay windows and renaming it Bradford House - presumably to reflect its new and improved status. School Reply, Lesley
Hi Lesley, How interesting to hear from you. I was born November 6 1950. My mum who lives with me is 91. She says I would have started at the school in Sept 1955, so we never crossed paths. I guess, Mrs Richards was teaching there for quite a while - at least 11 years. I think I was only in the big room less than a year. I did not like the hot meal – cabbage or something. School In Bradford On Tone
I lived in Bradford in the bungalow my dad designed at the corners. We emigrated to Canada in 1958 - I was 7. My dad came over here first to get work as an architect and a home for us. My mum, older brother, younger sister and I stayed in a caravan behind the pub for 6 weeks. Then we followed dad to Canada on a ship, The Empress of France in June 1958. Chapel House
I have lived for 20 years in Chapel House at Bradford on Tone. From outside it looks like a 1930s rendered house but was actually the Congregationalist Chapel in the 19th century. It didn't last long as a Chapel and was sold privately and later bought by the Berry family who lived next door (now Bradford House) and the chapel was the garage for the original Berry's buses. Bradford On Tone Village School
I attended the village school and Mrs Richardson was our teacher, I lived in Taunton and travelled daily on the bus from Taunton and walked from the main road to the village school and back to the bus after school, I never remember it raining.
