More about this scene

Bridlington lies near the top of Bridlington Bay, its northern flank protected by the great headland of Flamborough some six miles distant. The old town is in fact one mile inland from the sea, where in 1119, Walter de Grant founded an Augustinian priory. This view shows one of the principal shopping streets for this town of around 13,000 people. During the holiday season, the town's population could easily double - Bridlington was within easy reach of trippers from Hull, Leeds, Beverley and York.
