More about this scene

Prussian-born George Muller arrived in Bristol in 1833 and three years later started building five orphanages on this site at Ashley Down. This is the third. As well as being a philanthropist, George was also a pastor with the Open Brethren and undertook preaching tours throughout the world. He died in 1892 at the ripe old age of ninety-two.
