My Time At Rosary Priory

A Memory of Bushey Heath.

i attended Rosary Priory from 1959 until 1964. The nuns I fondly remember are Sisters Alphonsus , De Pazzi and Barbara. Mrs Simpson took us for PE when we wore grey culotte shorts for netball and navy knickers for gym.
My friends during my time at the school were Susan Rothwell and Amanda Clark

I am an academic author with published books reviewed in The Times Literary Supplement.
I am writing a historical remembrance of Rosary Priory and would love to hear anyone's memories of their time there in whatever capacity.
Rosary Priory was my favourite school of the eight I attended. I was there from 1961-64 and we had the same Sister as form teacher throughout. Her name escapes me but her favourite saying was Save Us and Guard Us in a strong Irish accent. With so many of us born in 52/53 I think about eleven of us had Elizabeth as a first or second name. Four of us with it as a first name. Deirdre Gallagher, Elizabeth Andrews, Sue Wilkinson, Melanie Snewing, Cecily Wright were some of my friends. We all had to have a favourite Beatle! We were sent home early in October 1963 to pray for the world not to end (Cuban Missile Crisis) but you were given the sense that with a Catholic in the White House things should be OK.
My sister Catherine started school there but had a less happy experience. Terrified of the nuns who she thought were bats. She hid under the table with a little boy. The boys had a harder time I think (only there for first two years). The strap was used she says.
