Delphine Cafe Challaborough Devon.

A Memory of Challaborough.

i used to own the dolphin cafe (delphine cafe) around 1989 for about five years. previously a gentleman in the RAF owned it also whitelegs the fairground company had it, and had amusements inside and out. my family ran the cafe until selling to haven leasure caravan site, whome left it empty for some time, and became vandalised. the recent owners had it pulled down due to health and safety.i have a few photos during the time we had the property.

I moved in with my father (the ex RAF owner) when I was 8 in 1981/82 and had really fond memories of the place. Was very sad to see it knocked down when I last visited as were my parents. Beautiful place and beautiful memories. I have some old photos of the place in Bournemouth where my dad and mum still live but I since emigrated to Australia.
I have idylic childhood memories of Challaborough/Bigbury as holidayed there every year with my grandparents from 1975 - 86. I Went back a few times in the 90s and early 2000s but it has changed so much. My holy grail is that I would love to see any old photos of the Dolphin Cafe, the parade of shops and Ghastly Gift Shop. Plus the old Tom Crocker Inn with indoor village scene and the Amusment Arcade next door to it. Best Dean
