The Brambles Abel Family

A Memory of Crondall.

My grandmother used to live in a house called The Brambles in Church Street, as a young girl during the 1920`s when she was about 8 or 9. The family name was Abel- relating to Bobby Abel the famous cricketer. My great grandfather, Thomas Earnest Abel, worked for a Mr Anson who lived at the old Itchell Manor. The family only stayed a short time at The Brambles as it was reputed to be haunted, and a ghost was seen on several occassions by different family members and servants. Back in the day, the Brambles was one large house, but I believe it's flats now! If anyone else has any further info, I would be interested to hear, perhaps the Brambles ghost is still at large!

Comments & Feedback

Crondall Lodge was a children's home and my mother was there from 1920 - 1925. I believe it was on the corner of Church Street and if anyone has any additional information, I would be grateful.
