Village Stores

My Grandparents John and Elsie Barker owned The Old Village Stores during the 1950's/60's and i used to stay there as a child of about six years old when on school holidays from where i lived in London ,remember the sweet van full of jars of sweets coming to deliver and being in the shop helping out!! 'swabies' Itchel Lane Crondall

There was a huge house with 5 acres of land, about 1/4 mile up Itchel Lane, on the left hand side as one walked up. The house had a 'wendy house' that looked down the road and was just visible through the hedge up the side of the property. The Brambles Abel Family

My grandmother used to live in a house called The Brambles in Church Street, as a young girl during the 1920`s when she was about 8 or 9. The family name was Abel- relating to Bobby Abel the famous cricketer. My great grandfather, Thomas Earnest Abel, worked for a Mr Anson who lived at the old Itchell Manor. Dovas Cottages The Shoe Repair Man

My nan, Beatrice Wareham used to live at Dovas cottages and we used to come and spend our summer holidays with her.
