Deal is a delightful small resort which became very popular Victorian times. Yet it has a long history with a number of attractive 18th- and 19th-century houses tucked away in the lanes of the Old Town. However, Deal is best known today for its attractive seafront, with its promenade and pier. The castle was built in Tudor times as part of the coastal fortifications.

1976 Campaign To Keep The Royal Marines In Deal
This is a treasured memory, and a plea for help. Born And Living In Deal From The Late 50's Until The 70's
being born and living in deal from the 'late fifties until the seventies' was such a wonderful part of my life, and has never left me. these photographs and memories bring it all back to me. the skating rink, boats, winches and plenty of tar! on the beach, the night ricemans went up in flames, parts of the channel freezing in the winter of '63. i lived in several houses in deal, ...see more

Castle Lea B&B Gladstone Road
Does anyone remember this B&B, located at No.2 Gladstone Road? It was run by two guys, Bryan & Michelle, one of whom was a fabulous cook. We stayed there several times back in the 70s. Wonderful hospitality! I often wonder what happened to Bryan and Michelle.

Cowper Road
I lived at No. 16 Cowper Road from 1968 to 1978. A really lovely house, and many happy times spent there. We bought it for £5,500 and our mortgage was £20.00 a month.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
