Grays

A Memory of Grays.

I was born in Rectory rd in 1940.I went to East Thurrock primary school from 1944 until 1950 when I went to Torells.I started work in Grays high street in 1955 at Gorstons butchers. The cab company I remember was Pratleys.

I remember Gorston's my grandfather worked there for a while his name was 'Curly Spiers' he also worked at the tiny butchers further down on the other side across the alley from Dolcis. I too went to Torrells when it was a mixed school and then I went across to the girls school I hated it.

My friends and I walked from Torrells all the way to Nutberry Corner as we lived in Stifford Clays no school coaches or taxis to ferry us
