Merrow Street School In The 1950

I was at Merrow Street School 1969-75. When I first started, there was a Mrs Smith (ginger/auburn hair) who was School Secretary, so I am guessing this may well have been your mum. Every Monday she would collect the week's dinner money (7s/6d) from each class teacher after they had collected it from the children. One year a child choked on a sixpence in the Christmas pudding and a worried Mrs Smith came into the classroom to see what help was needed ... fortunately it wasn't serious.

Not too many memories of your mum, I'm afraid, as I was so very young at the time. I remember she was followed by Mrs Westlake who was very kind.
