Grange Park Kingsgate School

A Memory of Kilburn.

We lived in Palmerston Rd, Kilburn. My fondest memories of Grange Park were looking out of our kitchen window to see my mum walking home from work. Also I remember coming out of the 'Saturday morning pictures' in the summer and walking straight into the back entrance of the park where the tennis courts are. The earliest memory was leaving Kingsgate school to have lunch at home and then returning though the park and falling asleep on the grass on a beautiful summers day. I was only 6 years old and nobody knew I was missing! The school thought I was at home and my parents thought I was at school. When I woke up I didn't hear any children in the play ground and thought school had finished for the day, I went home and met my dad leaving the house, when I told him he was in total shock and I had to apologise to the Headmistress the next day.

Incredible! I remember you well Steve, and your sister! We used to play in your back garden all the time. I remember your grandparents taking us all out for a day in the countryside and I felt I was in heaven, my first time in the country. When you both moved house I was heartbroken, so your lovely grandparents took me down on a train for the day to visit you in your new house. I can't remember your sister's name but I remember jumping up and down on her new bed until your mum sent us out to play. Very fond memories of uncle Charlie too ! What a lovely man. We used to climb through his garden window to play with the ornaments he had on the mantlepiece. At the time he was living with a lady from Canada, so lovely. Sometimes Charlie's daughter from his first marriage used to come and visit too. I stayed with uncle Charlie and his girlfriend for 3 weeks once, when my mum was in hospital and they spoilt me rotten. I never knew you were all relatives. So many lovely memories of you all during what was a very difficult time for us O'neills. I wonder why mum never stayed in touch with you all, or maybe she did ? I know mum stayed in touch with Gordon, who lived on the 2nd floor until he went back to live in Portugal. Living in Palmerston road was like living in one big extended family. Send my love to your mum and your sister and especially to uncle Charlie!
