Nostalgic memories of Purbrook's local history

Share your own memories of Purbrook and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

My Father held a senior position at Brickwoods Brewery in Portsmouth from the late 1940's until the mid 1970's. He and his colleague would stop off at The White Hart for a "quickie" on the way home from work on a Friday. If I was good they would bring me a lemonade before the onward journey home to Denmead. Ahh. Happy days. I now drink something stronger !
Hi, I remember Mrs Darbey and Mrs Vincent, the school was small and we dressed in the area near the office. I remember when we went to lunch in the hall we walked through the graveyard. Sports Day was always held in the church grounds, great days. When scool finished my mum would walk me past the Black and White Bakery. If you remember me then contact me. Debbie
