More about this scene

Constructed on boggy, rough moorland in 1860, the foundations for this building required deep excavation. With the east and west wings added in 1891 and 1903, the building housed a post office, the county court and the headquarters of various societies, with the market in fields behind. After twenty-five years of argument, it was finally demolished in the early 1980s, and replaced by the Warwick Quadrant shopping mall, library and civic theatre.

Redhill Childhood And Beyond
I was born in Colesmead Road Redhill, one of seven children. I had a wonderful childhood with fantastic parents, relatives and friends and even the school teachers from Merstham Primary and Bishop Simpson C/E. I am Helen and my maiden name was Coombs, born in 1952. Dad worked at Fullers Earth and he and mum and us were all involved with the British Legion in Redhill. Saturday Nights
What memories this building holds.  It gave the opportunity for a lot of teenagers to have their first Saturday night outs.  It usually cost 1s 6d entrance fee unless there was a fairly well known group appearing that night then it was 2s 6d.  I attended Redhill Tech (my surname then was Watts) and worked on a Saturday in Woolies on the sweet counter and most of the day was spent chatting to various friends who ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
