Victoria Terrace

A Memory of South Harrow.

I lived in Victoria terrace from 1946 when I was born. I had many very good friends who lived around that area. People like Derek Howard, Keith Randell, Bruce Humphies, Graham Thomas. Girl friends were Carol Smith, Rita Man, Shelia Moore, Christine Welsh, Christine being my only ''girl friend'' the rest were friends. I met my future wife in West street with her best friend Shelia Moore. We all went to Lascelles and dances were held in Kodak on a Saturday night with groups like Cliff Bennett and the Rebal Rousers. You bought your suits, hand made from Burtons in Harrow, and spent evenings in a Wmpy Bar, or in the Cinema. My childhood was very happy with memories of things like The Pinner Fair. I married Sandra Mcshane in 1969 and spent 43 happy years with her, before she died in 2012. I now live in Spain on my own with my memories of those happy times and my beautiful wife of so many years. If you think you know me get in touch I would love to here from some of my friends from the past.

Hello Graham, I realise your post is over 1 year old but I thought I would respond. I do not know you but some of the names you mention are famiiar to me. Derek Howard, Keith Randall and Rita Mann. I moved from Pinner to South Harrow in 1958 and did 1 year
at Roxeth before going to Lascelles Girls School. Derek and Keith were in my class. If I remember Derek was good at football. I can relate to a lot of what you mention and I was a big fan of Cliff Bennett although I used to see them at Burtons in Uxbridge. I worked at Kodak for a short while on leaving school as well. I was born in Oct 1947 does that make us the same school year or are you one above. I too married in 1969. I am so sorry your wife is no longer with you. Her name seems familiar but I can't place her.
I hope you are enjoying your life in Spain with all your happy memories. I still live in Harrow and it has really changed, I would love to hear from you.

Hi there Graham and Martin. I was also born in 1946 and lived in Shaftesbury Avenue just around the corner from Lascelles and I also went to the school. Was in most of the plays they put on and helped run dances etc. My mentor for acting and English teacher was David Hood. There was also Mr Peacock who I believe has written a couple of books.
Hi Carol Burgess - is your maiden name Smith? did you have a step/half brother called Leslie Stephen Daniels? if so, I'd love to hear from you.....Sue Daniels
