Our family holidays where in Talacre. We stayed in Lovely Cottage. On the road by the Point of Ayr. The toilet was at the end of the garden and we had gas lighting and gas iron. These were the most wonderful days of our family holiday. Horses in the field opposite. A walk up to Talacre Arms and then on to a walk to Talacre Abbey. Their fudge was amazing. Then a walk along the fields to The pub, ...see more
I remember happy childhood holidays at Talacre. We would stay in a wooden chalet belonging to a friend of my Dad's. He would pick us up in his Ford Anglia, my dad would sit in the front. Then Mum, my sister Annette and myself would sit in the back, with Tina( the corgi dog) across our knees. Once we arrived, Annette and myself would be up the sandhill at the back of the chalet, then down into the well. We would look for ...see more
My Auntie May Howard and her husband Frank, from St. Helens, had a wooden holiday bungalow she called Homestead in Dee Avenue Talacre - it was definitely 1961 onwards and possibly just before that and the community centre stands there now. The bungalow next door was called Iona. We first went there as a family in 1961 when I was 13 and I loved it from the word go - to the amazement of the family, ...see more

My Nan and Pop actually lived in a caravan on Mr and Mrs Taylor’s site early 60’s to the early 70’s. I recall my brother and I, visiting during the summer holidays and playing with Mr Taylor’s son, who at that time would have been around 14. My brother would have been 11, I was 9. We used to take it in turns to drive , yes drive, Mr Taylor’s big green jeep ...see more
I remember going to Talacre in the 1950s. Our treat every day was to go to the bakery. It was about 10 mins walk from the wooden cabin we stayed in. A bit like the hill billys. The smell when you got near to the bakery was amazing. We got custard tarts and bread, then we would go to the paper shop which was another short walk away. I remember a chippy which I think was near a big building like a pub or ...see more
My mum and dad and I spent many summers at the Talacre Warren. My father was a Co-op branch manager in Woodley, Cheshire and knew a couple, Mr & Mrs Taylor who had a wooden chalet on the Warren. In addition to the Chalet there was a small "Robin" 2 berth caravan and most excitingly for me the converted fuselage of a World War 2 Glider, which slept 3 or 4. I remember vividly gazing through the plastic ...see more

My family has had a property on Dee road for some years, I have been very lucky to spend many many happy holidays in Talacre. We had a caravan at Talacre in the late 70's until 1982 when I was 5. I have some vague memories of the sand dunes and the site (now Talacre Beach). Myself and my sister and my children come on holiday every year now, staying at Talacre Beach. We love the sand dunes and the open top bus! When I was a child we would walk to presthaven and use their facilities as our site at the time didn't have any. I ...see more
