Ellacombe Church Road Torquay

A Memory of Torquay.

My husband and I ran Lyndale Guest House 1967-1971 and enjoyed meeting many interesting families mostly from Northern England. I wonder if any of them are reading this?  Soon after we sold the property it was converted into flats as it would not have met the new stringent council rules. We decided to emigrate to Australia but have been back to the area several times to enjoy the lovely area especially Babbacombe beach.  I notice some people mentioned Shrublands. My son was born there in 1968 and was disappointed to find it was not longer there when he went back to Torquay.  I found it most comfortable and the staff very helpful.

Hello Dear Lyndale Guest House Owner
My family (mum, dad, my sister and myself along with my grandparents) came to Torquay on two separate occasions in the middle 1960's. We stayed at The Two Beaches Guest House on Meadfoot Sea Road. I have been back to visit Torquay more recently with my husband (within the last 10/12 years). I do remember the church being at the beginning of Meadfoot Sea Road. Meadfoot Beach still retains the slope down to the beach with its metal rail, along with cavernous hole built into side of the rock. But sadly no Two Beaches Guest House. I fully can fully appreciate, I was at the time of my revisit to Torquay, going back nearly 35 years ago or so and of course things do change. But it still would have been so wonderful to see the Guest House called Two Beaches on Meadfoot Sea Road.
