Our First Date.
A Memory of Wallasey.
I was a Drill Instructor at RAF West Kirby and my wife and I set eyes on each other at a dance for the RAF personnel at the Methodist Church Hall in Wallasey Village on Jan 23rd 1950. A week later we had our first date at the Capitol Cinema to see Orson Welles in 'The Third Man'.
Six months later we got engaged on July 23rd and on January 20th 1951 we were married in St. Johns Church in Liscard Road, Liscard. Sadly this Church is now closed but we revisit every year when the RAF West Kirby Association has it's Annual Dinner at Leasowe Castle.
We are still very happily married and will celebrate our 62nd wedding anniversary in January 2013.
