I have read all the letters and they have bought back so many memories. My sister and I were born in Hillingdon and from 1961 we used to go to Burtons dance hall on Tues, Friday and Saturday nights. We would also go to The Blue Moon club in Hayes on Wednesday nights (we were the mods) and to The White Hart, Southall and also the community centre there and sometimes the Twickenham Palais and Hammersmith Palais! On Saturday we would go to the record shop in Uxbridge to buy the latest 45 and to Manettas for clothes and to Bo-Claires for frothy coffee! and Uxbridge Station was a meeting place.....Uxbridge Swimming Pool, The Odeon, The Regal, The Savoy the Black Cat Cafe .......... Long Pointed Shoes. My sister and I worked at the American Base at West Ruislip we had a brilliant time.

RE: RE: Those Were The Days

Hi there, we used to go to Burtons but only Fridays after watching "Ready Steady Go" on TV, also Southall comunity centre, I remember the groups, or at least one or two, 'The Mersybeats' and 'The Baron Knights' plus many more, then there was Hamersmith Palais, 'Joe Los', RAF cCub Uxbridge, there were many place to go and I was only earing about 5 or 6 pounds a week, but was able to go out every night, have a few beers and it would almost always end us with taking some girl home then missing the last bus (later we had cars so it didn't matter), walking from West Drayton, or Hillingdon or Pinner, back to Northolt or thumbing a lift, I only got a lift a few times, one time a very nice policeman gave me a lift almost to my front door on the back of his police motorcycle, I always thought that was very kind as it was pouring with rain. Anyway, that was the best time time of our lives. Cheers, anybody who wants to get in Ttouch please do. I live and work in Cairo, Egypt now.
