Gavin Fairfax Garage
Does anyone have any memories or photos of the garage at station parade, I lived there from 1957 to 1960 at flat Number 3, the building was typical of the 1930s with white rendered walls and castle style crenelations at the top.
I recall the neon signs at the front elevation of the building ( glowing in red and green) at night it was a BP branded petroleum sales site with Standard Rover and Jaguar marques. a showroom and a cafe at the end of the building near the station.

RE: RE: Gavin Fairfax Garage
I have a cousin D. B. whose parents may have lived with him in a flat above the same garage in the 1950's. Anyone have photos?

RE: RE: Gavin Fairfax Garage
My father worked at the garage for twenty odd years, I have many happy memories of his time there and the people he worked with. A father and son lived in a flat above the garage, Bob and Peter Eaton, both working for the garage. Bob was a driver and Peter an apprentice and then a mechanic.

RE: RE: Gavin Fairfax Garage
My father, Roger Graham, worked at Gavin Fairfax's from the mid 1950s until about the late 1960s. He managed the second hand car sales there. I know he had a young assistant but can't remember his name. I have many happy memories of growing up in Virginia Water: bonfire nights in Holloway Sanitorium's grounds; 'hops' in a small hall somewhere near the garage?.
