The Old Man at Waggoners Wells

The person was probably 'Tiny' who was the National Trust warden. He was also an entertainer who regaled us with stories and jokes of the local area. We met him when we lived at Ford Cottage in the early 1950s. He had names for the swans and each of the cygnets on the second pond.

The 1960'S

I CAN REMEMBER THE FISHING AT WAGGONERS WELLS, THERE WAS 4 OF US MY BROTHER AND I AND TWO FRIENDS WE USED TO FISH THE THIRD LAKE SOMETIMES WE WOULD STAY OVERNIGHT ALTHOUGH I DONT THINK YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO.
I CAN ALSO REMEMBER AN OLD GENTLEMAN IN A FLAT CAP NOT SURE WHO HE WAS OR WHAT HIS JOB WAS (BAILIFF PERHAPS ?) OR DID HE LIVE IN THE TEA SHOP PAST THE THIRD LAKE NOT SURE. I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE FOR YEARS AS I NOW LIVE IN NORTH OXFORDSHIRE BUT DO INTEND TO VIST VERY SOON.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHO THIS GENTLEMAN WAS ?

Grayshott Hall

I remember this grand house as a private residence with many fond memories. The owners had Monkeys as pets in a huge cage in the grounds and wonderful horses. I lived for many years at the farm belonging to Grayshott Hall called Home Farm, before this I believe the farm was Bulls Farm. We spent many happy hours roaming around the gardens of the Big House and enjoying farm life. Does any one remember the Fetes that were held in the Park (a big field in front of G Hall) during the 1950s? Pam nee Thompson.

Does Anyone Know Hill Road, Grayshott

Does anyone remember a place called Stoneyridge, Hill Road, Grayshott in the 1980s please? Or remember an old gentleman called Mr Bull who used to be a gardener?

Little Black Houses

This is where our godmother used to live.  Her name was Fona, a really lovely lady, we'll always remember her.  I was born here in the same little black house that Fona lived in, (she used to live next door, but moved into our house when we moved to Saville Crescent in Bordon).  I don't remember Headley Down when I lived there as I was very young when we moved, but when I was older my elder sister used to take me there on a bus from Bordon, always on a Saturday.  Fona would take us blackberry picking and we would play in the large back garden for hours.  I remember there were loads of fir trees and the houses seemed to be higgledy-piggledy with shrubs and trees in between - so much nicer than these modern estates. Before Fona took us to the bus stop to go home we would have toast and chocolate spread or peanut butter and jam whilst Uncle Dennis (Fona's husband) watched the football results... Read more

I remember this place so well, this is the bus stop I used to use from Mill Chase School. Many an ugly scrap would occur on the school bus with the kids from the Erie camp, I think that is one of the old army huts the families used to live. I lived at Ludshott Grove in the new houses opposite  the camp. I remember a good old copper called PC Pike, he was a great old soul. I wonder if he is still with us, he used to give us a clip around the ear for scrumping the apples from the orchard near the deep pond at the bottom of Beech Hill. Those were the days.
