Wallington

I lived in Wallington in the late sixties early seventies. I lived at 7 The Mead and I spent some great years there. I went to Highview High School. There was always something to do and friends to hang out with. I loved Wallington, I still have a great friend who lives there. I used to hang out on Roundshaw estate and I know it got a bad reputation after some years.

Childhood Memories

When we lived in Wallington from 1965 to 1972, I remember going into Mantles the newsagent/sweetshop and buying sweets for my little brother and I.
The town hall and library are situated behind here and looking down the high street which has not changed a great deal to this day were all the shops and the railway station. Fond memories indeed of our years in Wallington.

1950's

I lived in Redford Avenue, Wallington when the road was a dead end with the old Croydon aerodrome at the end. I attended St Philomena's School in Carshalton. I came out to Australia in 1963 and have a son and a daughter and two grandsons. I am visiting England in September 2008 and will certainly walk up Redford Avenue with memories.

Carolann Anscomb

My first girlfriend used to attend this school, and I used to run out of my school to go and meet her. We would often do our homework together at her parents' house. They were a lovely family, Bill and Ida Anscomb used to take Carol and I out for drives in the country and we would stop and have a picnic tea. In 1972 the four if us went on holiday to Benidorm, my first overseas holiday it was great and I still have very fond memories of those bygone days.
Carol became a very glamourous flight attendant and she married Peter Richards in 1978 and has two children.
In 1996 we met up again and for the next 4 years we remained close friends, but unfortunately lost touch again shortly after I moved to Worthing, which is one of my many regrets in life.
If you ever read this memoir Carol, please call me.
