Wandsworth Market
I remember that little market where the Arndale Centre now stands. Also the swimming baths. The bakers on the bridge was a family firm and there was a fish and chip shop in the market. Plus a small pet shop which I later used when married for pet food for my animals. Nothing tasted so good coming home from swimming than a piece of bread pudding. The fish shop sold large pickled onions for 1d and the ones at the bottom always seemed larger. Sadly I have no pictures of this place though. Sorry.
Wandsworth has changed so much since I went to secondary school there.

Hey Joan, I'm sure I knew you .... My name was Sheila Harrison. I used to live in the Flavell Road, sadly knocked down to make the dual carriageway we know today. My sister was Brenda, she hung out on the old Easthill estate. But I definately know your name. Oh, I wish there were photos of Flavell Road (not many people had cameras in those days). I went to St Faiths School. Anyone that remembers me please contact me .. I am on Face book too (under Sheila Fowler) or email me on Dizziejoshelle@hotmail.com X

Hi, Thank you for sharing your stories. I currently own the land at 17 Spencer Park. There used to be a gateway that allowed access into Spencer Park's Secret Garden through the land that used to be next to 19 Spencer Park, otherwise known as 17 Spencer Park. You or some of your friends may remember the gateway at 17 Spencer Park. The land was owned by the Metropolitan Police in the 1950s. The land may have had fruit trees. In the 1960s the land was built upon to provide a 4-storey block of 10 flats for the Prison Wardens at Wandsworth Prison. I have a plan of the site 17 Spencer Park that I can show to you, it is situated opposite the railway line running from Clapham Junction to Wandsworth Common/Earlsfield Overground Line. Your recollection could be extremely valuable to me and I am prepared to reward you very generously for your time. My name is Scott Franklin M.R.I.C.S. My mobile is 07836 595822, my office tel 0207 431 9797 and my email is scott@landviewproperties.co.uk. I can send you more information should you wish or feel free to call me for a chat. I am of course also happy to meet.
