End of an Era
The Heroes is boarded up and for sale in this photo. I suspect it was demolished soon after. Every one of the buildings in this photo was demolished in the 1960s to be replaced by the soulless Wellington Way arcade and adjacent shops.

RE: RE: End of an Era
This picture is not of the Heros. The Heros was situatated on the corner of Hambledon Road, where Nat West Bank is now. This building was demolished and now has the office block with the bookie shop and electrical shop.

RE: RE: End of an Era
I agree with Nigel Tarrant - The Heroes was on the corner of Hambledon Road and we would call in to it's off licence as Kids on the way to our aunt's in order to buy large packets of crisps as a treat from Mum. We would be on our way to the farm house at the bottom of Red Hill in order to visit my mother's surrogate parents Will & Annie Langrish - Does anyone remember the farm house and adjoining cottages?
