More about this scene

Wednesbury - Woden's burg - is an ancient place. Some believe that there was once a temple to the Anglo-Saxon god Woden on the hilltop site where St Bartholomew's now stands. The present church is mainly of the 15th century, and its blackened stone makes for a rather forbidding appearance. The interior, however, is full of interest - especially notable is its unusual lectern.
