RE: RE: Old Boys

John,
I recognise a good few of the names you mention in your piece, but your memory is obviously better at recall, since I doubt I could have plucked them out of thin air.
After leaving I only went to a couple of Old Boys Dinners. At one I was returned to London by Malc Airey in his Austin Healey 3000 and as the M1 had just opened we used the A5 – what a ride!
Philip Lacey was a Wireless whizz, and I remember that got me interested in Radio Hams at the time.
So those two have a lot to answer for! I still enjoy driving and was for thirty years a Pit Marshall for the BRSCC, leaving as an Assistant Chief and I am still fascinated by things technical and thoroughly enjoy being a prerelease tester for Adobe and Apple and take pictures like they are going out of fashion. Galleries of my work are on:

RE: RE: Old Boys

Rod, I remember Philip Lacey Quite well, I believe he suffered from Polio? Mal Airy I also remember although he was older than me, as for yourself, I can't quite place you,did your father belong to the RAF? Which year were you in, did you attend Chicherley Hall School, then the school moved to Whittlebury. Another pupil's name was Wells, I can't think of his first name. I know that Wells and Lacey and myself used to go around together. Have you any photographs of the school, pupils etc? Looking forward to hearing from you. John Pink.

RE: RE: Old Boys

I went to this school in the late 1950s to possibly 1960, Meager's son was about 12/13 years old, (snake in the grass) in those days. I did go to the first old boys dinner but moneys collected for the next year went astray and that was the end of the old boys as far as I know, or can it be revived?

RE: RE: Old Boys

My dad was called Malcolm William Airey, born 1938, and he drove an Austin Healy, he lived in Camberwell. I am trying to trace my family tree and what my dad did in his past and hope you were all friends with my dad. His dad Bill (Max) ran a radiator repair shop from Camberwell hence his acess to new cars. Plus his dad had raced cars in the past. When he was older and married he moved to Bexley in Kent. If this rings any bells please get in contact xx I love the pictures on this web site as they remind you of the old days.

RE: RE: Old Boys

Malcom Airey played centre half and I centre forward and in practice matches I would endeavour to avoid his fearsome sliding tackles, outstretched leg sweeping one's feet(andball) away. It was a good soccer team including Roger Payne (goalie), Terry Lusted (L/B) and Jimmy Fisher who replaced Malcom when he left. Malcom was wicket keeper in summer and I recall shooting him in the leg accidentally - HONESTLY - and suffering a large black eye as a result.
