Gigneys Shop

My wife's maiden name is Gigney and I know the family had busineses in Wickford and Stanford le Hope.

Can anyone supply more details? - one was a saddlers and general store. Do any photos exist of these shops? Indeed can anyone advise if they still stand or where exactly they were?

RE: RE: Gigneys Shop

I have a book (one of the Archive Photographs Series) called Wickford, ISBN 0-7524-0354-0 published by The Chalford Publishing Company, St. Mary's Mill, Stroud, Gloucestershire. In it is a picture of Gigneys row of shops and also a list of things which could be bought there. They were at the Broadway end of the High Street and now alas long gone.

RE: RE: Gigneys Shop

Apologies for delay in replying, my local library ordered the book for me, hope to go visiting Wickford soon.

Thank you.

John.
