Born in Wingate
Great to read about the place I was born in, ie Joe Cunningham brings back memories, I recall same as you. I now live in the Midlands since moving when Wingate closed. Nice to keep in touch on this site, do you remember me Joe? As I think I know you, do you have a brother Harry? Chris Tarren PS I lived at 362 New Row.

RE: RE: Born in Wingate
Hi Chris Yes I remember you. If I remember right your grandmother /auntie used to have the shop on the front street near Roberts shop (buses)o pposite Moor Lane. She was good friends with my grandparents (Joe Lee who lived in 6 Moor Lane). Harry is my cousin, his brother Matty died last year or the year before. I spoke to Harry at a cousin's funeral in Bradford recently, where he lives now (they lived in New Cross Row before moving to Bradford). Do you remember, Joe Tunnicliffe/ Harry Elliot/ Joe(Kipper) Herron/ Johnny Brewster/ Terry (Snipe) Hart/ Fatty Brass> Also going to the Palace and Empire pictures. ps Richard Roberts moved to Canada a number of years ago.

RE: RE: Born in Wingate
Hi Joe, thought you might know me. I used to live about six doors away from Mat and Harry - we used to fight all the time (ha ha!) - they where wild. Mr Brass taught me (fatty). I knew Harry, and Eddie Eliot. The shop was owned by my dad's aunt, you'll know Ian (he lived at shop), I used to call him cousin, I knew the Roberts family, Rich was the youngest lad. Snip hart did you know Peter Brown? I remember we went to both picture houses and Joe Pirellies (spike), we called him. Dominics was best after Johnie Pariselli took over, but he's gone now. Did you know my cousin Gordon Bruce? He lives in Lake Bank Terrace, Wingate. Anyway, got to go - nice to hear from you, all the best. Chris
