Greys Drapers
Grandfather William Grey owned a number of shops in Wingate, Co. Durham one was at 47 North Road West, Wingate, it was a drapers shop. Grandfather died in 1962, his last remaining shop was closed by my mother Winnie England and made into a house. My family were once very prominant in Wingate, they consisted of the Greys, the Races and the Tarrens. In the 1800s Robert Tarren owned the Plough Inn in Hutton Henry. I would be very interested in any information about current family members.

RE: RE: Greys Drapers
Hi, my name is Hilda Gething (nee Tarren), the Tarrens were all my relations from Wingate. Can you tell me more? I know my father worked in cinema as a young man and my grandfather's brothers had various local businesses. I believe one was a bookmaker in Wingate, one was a baker. My dad spoke of going the the icecream parlour owned by an Italian and he spoke of swimming in a lake which i think used to be down behind the church as a child. Can you tell me more, I don't know if any of my relations are still alive?

RE: RE: Greys Drapers
I see mention of the Tarren family. Was there a Robson Tarren born around 1924 or so?
My father William Allan Hutchinson may have had a school-friend of this name.
Any info welcome. JHutchi777@aol.com
