Where I Once Lived as A Young Boy
Lovely to find a photo of the road in which I lived as a young boy. I lived at the Fruit and Vegetable shop (owned by my Uncle Norman Evans) which stood on the corner of Cobden Street and Bridgnorth Road. It can be seen about halfway along the right-hand side of the photo titled Wollaston, Bridgnorth Road 1968. Cobden Street is the turning on the right. I remember opposite Cobden Street was Parke's Bakery who had a shop also in Coventry Street in Stourbridge. The Bus Stop on the right hand side brings back so many memories of visiting my Grandparents in Kinver. My Mother and I would catch the then 250 (Stourbridge to Kinver (White Hill). Again really very nice to discover a photo of Wollaston.

RE: RE: Where I Once Lived as A Young Boy
It was a lovely surprise to read the comments from Malcolm Atkins. I worked at this fruit and veg shop from about 1962 on a Saturday when I was at Stourbridge Girls High School and after I left school I worked full time there with Mrs Payton. I have very fond memories of Mr. & Mrs Evans. I lived with my parents in Cobden St and I remember the race to the top of the road when I was late for work! Very happy memories were made in this shop in the days when there were no calculators and the totals were added as I went along - and we were happy to sell 1 carrot and 1 parsnip if this was all that was needed - a far cry from supermarkets now! I worked with Mr Evans at West Bromwich market on his veg stall - I loved to banter with the customers there. I also remember waiting for the Kinver bus at the stop (I now live in Kinver). I also spent time in the general shop by the crossing with a friend of my mom's where food was weighed out and put in small bags. Thanks for the memories.
